What is StockHack?
- StockHack is Stockton University’s hack-a-thon, a creativity marathon in which technology enthusiasts work together to create an original project within the contest’s 24-hour timeframe. Prizes will be awarded at the culmination of the event. StockHack will serve as a unique experience for high school and college students who are interested in using technology to learn, create and collaborate with each other.
- StockHack is a unique event which in which students will learn how computer science can be applied in their educations by experimenting with interface design and software engineering challenges. The overall themes for the event are innovation and design, with a grand prize going to the most innovative original project.
- The event will commence on Saturday afternoon with guest speakers, group-building time, and significant time for collaborative and creative work. The competition will end on Sunday morning with the presentation of the team projects.
- StockHack will capture the importance of integrating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into a Liberal Arts and Science curriculum. Students from many local high schools and colleges will learn how computer science can be applied into their liberal arts education. Q: What's a hackathon?A hackathon is a unique creativity marathon for tech enthusiasts of all skill levels and interests. For 24 hours, attendees will work in small groups to create an original tech project from conception to finalization. Completed projects will then be judged by our panel, with prizes being awarded to the best received projects in multiple categories.
Q: Who can attend?Currently enrolled high school and/or undergraduate students are welcome to participate. StockHack welcomes tech enthusiasts of all skill levels!
Q: What is the cost to attend?StockHack is $10. The fee covers meals, snacks, a t-shirt and swag.
Q: How are the teams decided?Attendees are encouraged to develop teams of 2-3 members on their own. If you need help finding teammates, you can do so at the event during the team formation period.
Q: What should I bring?You should bring with you photo identification (driver's license, student ID card, etc.), a laptop/tablet, as well as any needed chargers and sleeping gear. A liability waiver and photo release form will be required for all attendees.
Q: What items are prohibited?Power drills, hand tools, soldering irons, weapons, alcohol or any illegal substances are prohibited and will result in disqualification from the competition. Please leave your fabrication hardware at home. Participants may bring a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or VR Headset.
Q: How do I get there?StockHack will be held in the Lower C Wing Atrium at Stockton University's main campus (101 Vera King Farris Drive, Galloway, NJ 08205-9441). For directions, click https://stockton.edu/maps/driving-directions.html.
Q: Where should I park or drop-off?Parking Lots 0, 1, and 2 are all a short walking distance from the C-Wing Atrium. The Registration Desk is located between C and D-Wings in the Main Campus corridor.
Q: How can I volunteer to help at the event?We're looking for volunteers to help run the next event! If you're interested, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, age, and a brief description on your tech or event management experience.

Q: What are the food arrangements?Food is available throughout the event to all participants and volunteers. This includes dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, and snacks in between. Those with specific food allergies are encouraged to bring their own known to be safe food.
Q: What if I need to take a break?There will be a quiet area for participants who need a short breather. We recommend that you bring something comfortable, like a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow.
Q: How will the event be supervised for minors that attend?Supervision of minors while on campus will be provided by the University in accordance with the established standards for the Protection of Minors.
